Welcome to The Bookish Feminist! Here you’ll find book reflections + suggestions, featuring texts by Black, Indigenous, Latinx, queer, and other “colonially underserved/historically resilient” * writers. I am based on the traditional homelands of Dakota and Anishinaabe peoples currently called Minnesota. I am a reader, mother, learner, and humble journeyer through the work of being an anti-racist co-conspirator. the work herein serves to amplify, acknowledge, and incorporate knowledge, information, reflections, and calls to action from BIPOC + queer + Latinx + other voices.
Posts will uplift and amplify own-voices reviews and insights. Credit always goes to the Black. Indigenous, Aboriginal, Latinx, queer, disabled, and other activists who do the heavy emotional lifting of sharing their experiences, reviews, and insights; comment on posts and contact businesses about harmful and oppressive messages and actions; and continue to aggregate and share information so that allies can become better anti-racist co-conspirators. This is not their job. It is our job to do the work of dismantling oppressive structures and systems and the legacy of white supremacy that pervades in so many communities, and we are lucky that so many folks are willing to share their time, energy, and emotional labor with us.
This is a space of learning, engaging in dialogue, incorporating perspectives from diverse voices, and constantly examining our privilege, whatever that might look like in our lives and for our identities.
I’m so glad you’re here! Please always feel free to share your favorite writers, books, voices, films, articles, book lists, action items, or other diverse + anti-racist resources here.
